Welcome to the Bamboozlers’ Blog!
October 21, 2006
Well, here it is! Welcome to the blog of the U of C C4C 2006/2007 girls D.G. hosted by Lydia and Zoe, a.k.a. THE BAMBOOZLERS!
This blog can be a place where we girls stay in contact throughout the week, talk about God, scripture, the D.G., our everyday lives, share stories, plan outreaches/parties, or anything else you can think of!!
If you have any ideas for the blog, write a post about it and place it under the category “blog”. If you have any brainstorms for the D.G., post about it under the category “D.G.”
Zoe’s brainstorming for more categories:
1) Sharing stuff that makes us smile (The “Whatever is’s” from Phil 4:8)
2) Sharing creative stuff we’ve done like poetry, pictures, songs etc.
3) Discussing Biblical stuff, e.g. the Nephilim
4) Plain old blog posts about how we’ve been doing (physically, intellectually, relationally and spiritually)
5) Random thoughts about random things
6) Good quotes we’ve come across or words of the day
7) Contact info (password protected, I’m thinking)
Okay, some of those were kinda redundant. Just some thoughts. I’m looking forward to seeing the categories that actually develop over time.
This blog is public, so feel free to bless all viewers with your thoughts. However, if you have anything personal to say that you want to be viewed only by your fellow bamboozlers, protect it by a password.
Remember, true friendship is a safe place to let things matter, so feel free to share what matters to you!
Love you all(ready)!
-Zoe
sooo… question: how do all of us ‘underlings’ leave blogs on here…?
Tmarie OUT
It’s Halloween today. The only thing scary about the day was my midterm.
I have a challenge for everyone in the DG. This Thursday (Nov 2) I’m going to be doing a media fast all day. What’s a media fast, you are probably asking? Well, as the name implies, I intend to not expose myself to any secular media that day (from the time I wake up til I go to bed). This means no TV, no movies, no radio (except Shine), no books or magazines (except the Bible), and no internet (and this includes email and research for papers). I do this periodicly, but our study on Friday reminded me of this. If any of you are interested in doing this, let me know on Friday how it went, and I’ll let you know how my day went too. I think things like this really do help to focus our minds of what we should be thinking about (see Phil 4:8, as we were discussing). Well, that’s all. See you Friday.
PS. You know you’re an English major when you really wish for spell check on this blog.

So I thought I’d update you on how it went on Thursday. As you may recall, I said that I would stay away from:
-non Christian music (this wasn’t a problem since I have so much Christian music)
-TV and movies (except for briefly seeing what my mom was watching, I found this not that hard, though I did have to make an effort to not watch the National (CBC news). I really have a habit of doing that on a weekday).
-no books (except the Bible and Christian stuff) This was the hardest for me. I’m a bookworm, so trying to reach for a library book or a textbook was challenging, and I learned that I really need more Christian books to read.
-no internet (except for the desire to check my email, this was quite easy).
I must say that since, I have really noticed the content of what I’m seeing, reading, etc. It’s been good, because it’s clearer to see why I should not be viewing something. Certain things like violence and swearing that I don’t like in the first place were even more disturbing. I’ve also noticed that Satan has really been trying to attack me, with a fervor that I really haven’t experienced for a while. It’s probably because the media is one of the front lines of spiritual warfare, and if you try hard enough, you can shut down a lot of garbage that way.
That’s all for now. See you Friday.

So… yes- I am very behind on reading your blog Grace! But- good for you- that is a great idea… and somewhat ironic, considering that last fri (the 17th) we were talking about fasting a little bit:D It’s too bad you couldn’t make it- we got served a cheese and meat platter by some guys from cforc! hahaha- it really should always be that way: us being served by the guys:D
